MIAMI, Aug 15 (Reuters) - The first named tropical storm of the 2009 Atlantic hurricane season formed on Saturday, the National Hurricane Center said. Tropical Storm Ana had maximum winds of 40 miles per hour (65 kph) and could threaten the Leeward Islands by Monday. At 0500 EDT (0900 GMT), the storm was located around 1,000 miles (1,600 km) east of the Leeward Islands. The Hurricane Center said the storm was expected to strengthen slowly over the next 48 hours.
