Aftershock of 6.0 magnitude hits Peru -USGS

LIMA, Aug 17 (Reuters) - An aftershock with a preliminary magnitude of 6.0 hit Peru south of its capital Lima on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey said two days after a powerful 8.0 magnitude earthquake rocked the same area.

A Reuters witness said there were no immediate reports in Lima of damages or injuries from the aftershock, centered about 90 miles (145 km) south of the capital on the coast. (Additional reporting by Bill Trott in Washington)
