WASHINGTON, Nov 21 (Reuters) - A 5.9 magnitude earthquake rattled the region of northern Chile that has been rocked by a series of aftershocks over the last week, the U.S. Geological Survey said on Wednesday.

The quake at 1255 GMT was centered 143 miles (230 km) southeast of Antofagasta, and was 68.3 miles (110 km) deep, the USGS said.

A week ago, a 7.7 magnitude quake near Antofagasta collapsed homes and buildings, killing two people and injuring 115, and there have been a number of aftershocks since then.
