VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Aug 22 (Reuters) - Two Canadian soldiers and an interpreter were killed and two journalists injured on Wednesday during an attack in southern Afghanistan, the Canadian military said. The soldiers and journalists from Radio-Canada, the country's French-language public network, were on a patrol that was returning from a mission west of Kandahar when a roadside bomb exploded, officials said. The network identified the journalists as cameraman Charles Dubois, who suffered a severe leg injury, and Patrice Roy, who was being treated for shock. A third soldier was also wounded in the incident which took place about 50 km from Kandahar in southern Afghanistan.. The names of the two soldier that were killed were not immediately released. Canada has some 2,600 soldiers based in the Kandahar region in an operation that has become increasingly unpopular at home. Sixty-nine Canadian soldiers have been killed since the NATO-lead operation began.
