Sept 24 (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate John McCain, who considers foreign policy to be one of his strengths, has a group of advisers who counsel him on international affairs.

Here is a list of some of those advisers:

RANDY SCHEUNEMANN - Scheunemann is a senior foreign policy adviser to McCain who serves on his campaign staff. Previously he has advised former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and former Senate Republican Majority Leaders Bob Dole and Trent Lott. He was a director of the Project for the New American Century, a neoconservative think tank whose members influenced Bush administration policy on national security and the Iraq war.

RICHARD WILLIAMSON - Williamson currently serves as special envoy to Sudan under the Bush administration. He has worked as ambassador to the United Nations for special political affairs and as ambassador to the U.N. Commission on Human Rights. He worked in the administrations of Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush.

JOHN LEHMAN - Lehman is a former secretary of the Navy and member of the 9/11 Commission. He worked for Henry Kissinger on the National Security Council and as deputy director of the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency.

STEPHEN BIEGUN - Biegun is currently advising vice presidential nominee and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. He has served as national security adviser to former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and as a senior staff member to National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice during Bush's first term.

PHILIP ZELIKOW - Zelikow was executive director of the 9/11 Commission. He has held posts in the Navy, the State Department and the National Security Council.

ROBERT KAGAN - Kagan is a senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and was a director of the Project for a New American Century. He worked in the State Department during the Reagan administration.
