MIAMI, Aug 26 (Reuters) - Hurricane Gustav was downgraded to a tropical storm on Tuesday, with maximum sustained winds below 74 miles per hour (119 kph), as it lost strength after making landfall over flood-prone Haiti, U.S. forecasters said. "Gustav is moving back over water and is expected to regain hurricane strength on Wednesday once it clears the southwestern peninsula of Haiti," the forecasters said. (editing by jackie frank)
