WASHINGTON, April 26 (Reuters) - New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg confirmed on Sunday that eight city school children have a mild form of swine flu, but said it appeared not to be spreading rapidly to the general population. "We haven't seen any increases or clusters that suggest an outbreak," Bloomberg told a briefing of reporters, a day after tests confirmed the children had a type A influenza virus that was likely swine flu. Bloomberg said public schools will remain open, and reminded the public that the symptoms including severe flu, but asked those with minor symptoms to stay home as a precaution. Congregating in public areas is a way the virus spreads, experts said. The World Health Organization has declared swine flu in Mexico and the United States a public health event of international concern.
