WASHINGTON, Oct 27 (Reuters) - President Barack Obama formally renewed U.S. economic sanctions against Sudan on Tuesday.

The one-year extension, which Obama made official in a letter to Congress, followed his decision announced earlier this month to keep pressure on Sudan while offering Khartoum new incentives to end violence in Darfur. (Reporting by Matt Spetalnick, Editing by Sandra Maler)
