(Updates with fatalities, adds details, changes dateline from Vancouver) CALGARY, Alberta, March 28 (Reuters) - Five people were killed on Friday in an airplane crash in Western Canada near the small town of Wainwright, Alberta, Canadian media reported on Friday. The five were traveling from Edmonton, Alberta, to Winnipeg, Manitoba, when the small plane, which reports said was a single-engine Piper Malibu, crashed about 200 km (124 miles) southeast of Edmonton. Details were sketchy, but the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported that all five on board the plane -- four men and one woman -- had died in the crash, citing the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. CBC also reported the aircraft was owned by an Edmonton engineering firm and was being flown by the company's president, whose father died in a plane crash last October. John Cottreau, a spokesman for Canada's Transportation Safety Board said an investigator was on the way to the site of the crash but would be unable to immediately offer additional details.
