(Confirms death; previous TORONTO) OTTAWA, Jan 31 (Reuters) - A Canadian soldier was killed on Saturday when his armored vehicle hit an explosive device on a road west of Kandahar in southern Afghanistan, Canada's defense department said. The soldier, Sapper Sean Greenfield, was the 108th member of the Canadian military killed since Canada sent forces to Afghanistan in 2002. The other soldiers in the vehicle were not injured. Canada has 2,700 soldiers in Kandahar, capital of a region that is a stronghold for Taliban militants. The Canadian combat mission is set to end in 2011.
