BAGHDAD, Nov 24 (Reuters) - Gunmen clashed with U.S.-led forces in Baghdad's Sadr City, a stronghold of the Mehdi Army Shi'ite militia, and there were some casualties, a Shi'ite lawmaker and residents said on Friday.

Shi'ite politician Falah Hasan Shanshal said the clashes involved U.S. troops and there may have been an airstrike. He had no specific details of casualties.

The fighting came the day after multiple car bombs killed over 200 people in Sadr City in the worst single attack since Saddam Hussein was overthrown in April 2003.

A U.S. spokesman said earlier he could not comment on specific operations but U.S. forces were helping Iraqi army and police enforce a curfew imposed after the Sadr City attacks.
