BEIJING, July 26 (Reuters) - Thirty-seven Chinese students were admitted to hospital after a gas leak from a nearby chemical warehouse, Xinhua news agency said on Thursday.

Three of the students, all from a vocational school, were under observation in hospital, including one who was in serious condition.

The leak happened on Wednesday at Liaoning Petroleum and Chemical Storehouse in the province's capital of Shenyang, Xinhua said.

Chemical leaks are common in China. In April, 5,000 people were evacuated after a chlorine gas leak in northeast Heilongjiang province.

The same month, a sulphur dioxide leak at a fertiliser plant in southwestern China put about 140 students and teachers in hospital with respiratory problems.
