SEOUL, Aug 1 (Reuters) - The following is a summary of major South Korean newspapers on Wednesday, prepared by Reuters in Seoul. Reuters has not checked the stories and does not guarantee their accuracy.

CHOSUN ILBO

- South Korean police are on patrol around the mosque in Seoul as a precaution during the Taliban hostage crisis, according to an officer at the Yongsan Police Station, which is based in the neighbourhood.

DONG-A ILBO

- SK Telecom <017670.KS> is negotiating with major overseas record labels and communications companies to advance its digital music service abroad, according to CEO Kim Shin-bae.

JOONGANG ILBO

- Bank of America Corp. <BAC.N> chairman Kenneth Lewis said in an interview the company is considering partnerships with South Korean companies to enter the domestic credit card market.

MAEIL BUSINESS NEWSPAPER

- The telecom division at Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. <005930.KS> has started hiring marketing executives and setting up a global team in a reorganisation, according to a high-ranking official.
