SEOUL, Jan 21 (Reuters) - The following is a summary of major South Korean newspapers on Monday, prepared by Reuters in Seoul. Reuters has not checked the stories and does not guarantee their accuracy.

CHOSUN ILBO

- A combined total of 55.8 billion won ($59.20 million) provided by state coffers and private donations will be handed out to local residents in Taean this week, the western region of South Korea which was hit a month ago in the country's worst oil spill, said Lee One-koo, governor of South Chungcheong province.

- The special team looking into bribery allegations against Samsung Group [SAGR.UL] summoned Yoon Hyung-mo, executive vice president of Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Co <000810.KS>, and Lee Shil, executive vice president of Samsung Electronics Co Ltd <005930.KS>, for questioning.

MAEIL BUSINESS NEWSPAPER

- Korean Air Co <003490.KS> is said to have been asked to acquire Hansung Airlines, a South Korean budget airline, according to airline industry sources.
