Eight militants dead, 15 hurt, in Pakistani assault

ISLAMABAD, July 10 (Reuters) - Eight militants have been killed and 15 wounded in an assault by Pakistani security forces on a radical mosque compound in the capital, the military said.

"The information we've received is eight militants have been killed so far and 15 wounded," said military spokesman Major-General Waheed Arshad.

Two members of the security forces had been killed and eight wounded, he said. The assault began at 4 a.m. (2300 GMT on Monday) and was still going on.
