MUMBAI, Jan 21 (Reuters) - At least 38 people were killed and dozens injured after a bus packed with pilgrims fell into a gorge in western India, police said on Monday.

The accident occurred on Sunday night, when the driver lost control negotiating a bend along a hilly stretch about 200 km (125 miles) north of India's financial capital Mumbai.

The victims, mostly from Mumbai, included five children and 14 women. Forty passengers were injured, police said. (Reporting by Krittivas Mukherjee; Editing by Alex Richardson)
