FACTBOX-Security developments in Afghanistan, Nov 14

Nov 14 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 1230 GMT on Saturday:

HERAT - Afghan and foreign forces killed "several" insurgents during a search operation in the Shindand district of western Herat province, the NATO-led force said. One of those killed was a woman who was armed, the alliance said.

District chief Lal Mohammad said three insurgents and one civilian woman was killed during a firefight between foreign forces and Taliban militants. The NATO-led force said no civilians were harmed during the operation.

The Taliban could not be reached for comment.

SOUTHERN AFGHANISTAN - One U.S. service member from the NATO-led force was killed by a bomb in the south of the country on Friday, the alliance said on Saturday.

EASTERN AFGHANISTAN - One U.S. service member from the NATO-led force and one U.S. civilian contractor were killed by a bomb in the east on Friday, the alliance said on Saturday.
