FACTBOX-Security developments in Afghanistan, July 17

July 17 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 1400 GMT on Friday.

* denotes new or updated items.

* KANDAHAR - A roadside bomb killed nine civilians, all from the same family and including five children and two women, in the Spin Boldak district of southern Kandahar province, senior border police official Saifullah Hakim said. Two women were wounded. The Interior Ministry put the death toll at seven.

* PAKTIKA - A roadside bomb killed five Afghan soldiers in the Bermel district of southeastern Paktika province, said an Afghan army officer who declined to be named.

* PAKTIKA - A roadside bomb killed two civilians and wounded one in a separate incident in Paktika, said Hamidullah Zwak, a spokesman for the provincial governor.

HELMAND - A British soldier serving with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force was killed by an explosion while on a foot patrol in the Gereshk district of southern Helmand province on Thursday, Britain's Ministry of Defence said.

PAKTIKA - Afghan and foreign forces killed 11 Taliban insurgents during a joint operation and air strikes in Paktika's Waze Zadran district overnight, district chief Abdul Wali Zadran and NATO officials said. (Compiled by Hamid Shalizi; Editing by Paul Tait)
