Magnitude 7.4 quake hits near New Zealand - agency

TOKYO, Sept 30 (Reuters) - A strong earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 7.4 hit near New Zealand on Sunday, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

The quake occurred at around 2:24 p.m. Japan time (0524 GMT), the agency said.
