UNHCR yesterday (Monday) launched
its new global website as we begin the week leading up to the annual World Refugee Day on Saturday, June 20.The website, which was launched first in English, is a vital component in our
communications work aimed at bringing the realities of the forcibly displaced and stateless to life, while emphasising the value of UNHCR's work in responding. The new site is at the same
address as the old one – www.unhcr.orgIt tells the human story behind the refugee statistics and news, illustrates the impact of our work, and helps UNHCR set the agenda on refugee
issues. It will continue to carry breaking news and comprehensive information about our humanitarian operations worldwide. We believe the website's visually-led design, new layout and faster
search engine will provide an easier-to-navigate and vastly improved web experience. The site will integrate various social media into one platform, boosting UNHCR's conversation with online
communities globally. The new website was designed pro bono with the help of VML, part of the WPP group, a key corporate partner of UNHCR. The architecture, development and implementation was
completed by our Electronic Publishing Unit in collaboration with the UNHCR Communications Service.
