WASHINGTON, May 1 (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush on Thursday called for $770 million in new international food aid to help stem rising food prices threatening to spread social unrest in the developing world. "I think more needs to be done and so today I'm asking Congress to provide an additional $770 million to support food aid and development programs," Bush told reporters at the White House as he unveiled a supplemental budget request for fiscal 2009 that would require congressional approval.
