(Adds nationality of victims) BASRA, Iraq, June 25 (Reuters) - Three Iraqi security contractors working for the British-based ArmorGroup were killed in a roadside bomb attack on their convoy near the southern Iraqi city of Basra on Monday. Two foreign contractors were wounded in the attack, said Major David Gell, a British military spokesman in Basra, quoting a statement from the company. He did not give their nationality. An Iraqi security source had earlier said three foreign contractors were killed in the attack. Gell told Reuters the incident took place north of the Sunni town of Al Zubair, about 15 km (9 miles) southwest of Basra. There were unconfirmed reports that it was carried out by a Shi'ite militia. The Mehdi Army of anti-American cleric Moqtada al-Sadr is a powerful force in Basra and often attacks British troops. Thousands of private security contractors are employed in Iraq to guard diplomats, government officials, convoys and installations around the country.
