'On the other side of the lens -- Celebrity Art Collection'
13 Nov 2003
They know what it's like to be in the frame, but what happens when celebrities including Angelina Jolie, Jodie Kidd and Vivienne Westwood try their hand at photography? The answer is in an exhibition now touring Europe to raise money for the Red Cross.

"On the other side of the lens -- Celebrity Art Collection", organised by camera maker Canon, kicks off this week in London before hitting Berlin, Paris, Italy and Stockholm. Proceeds will be donated to European Red Cross empowerment projects.

"'On the other side of the lens' captures the essence of inspiration and is a fitting testament to the work the Red Cross is doing across Europe to help empower young people to make more of their lives and of those around them," Anita Kerwin-Nye, head of youth, schools and community first aid at the British Red Cross, told AlertNet.

Below is a selection of celebrities' images of "what inspires them".

"The photo was taken on the border of Ingushetia and Chechnya, in the Russian Federation. Because of the sensitivity and the intensity of the area I had to capture my image very quickly. "

Two years after the devastating 2001 earthquake that struck Gujarat, India, Kidd visited Red Cross projects in the area to see how communities are getting back on their feet.
