A woman rides her bicycle past the chimneys of a power station located on the outskirts of Beijing October 29, 2009. China is on track to build its first commercial-scale power plant that can capture and store emissions, but experts say it must speed up research on where and how to sequester carbon. China is the world's biggest emitter of the greenhouse gasses that cause global warming and is under increasing pressure to agree to curb output. But coal is China's most plentiful domestic source of energy, and the government hopes for decades of rapid economic expansion to lift millions more from poverty, so capturing and storing carbon dioxide is likely to be crucial to any reduction.
