A fireman inspects the damaged roof of the Berliner Philharmonie near Potsdamer Platz in Berlin May 21, 2008, one-day after a blaze broke out at the concert hall. Around 170 firefighters and more than 30 vehicles were sent to extinguish the fire on Tuesday that sent banks of thick smoke billowing from the city's architectural landmark. Police said an investigation into what triggered the fire was in progress, but that it may have been caused by work being carried out on the roof. Berlin's fire brigade said there was no danger the roof would collapse, but that the building was in danger. The extent to which water or foam could damage the interior was not clear.
