Christian Aid (CA) obtained a grant from ECHO for the implementation of a food security, child nutrition and disaster preparedness project in Mopti Region, Mali in September 2007. The specific objective of this project is to reduce malnutrition amongst under-five year olds and other vulnerable groups in 13 communes of Bandiagara Zone, Mopti Region, Mali through additional food aid supplements and livelihood protection measures.

The FSCN Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring effective management, monitoring and reporting for the ECHO funded project being implemented by one of CA’s local implementing partner organisations, and for ensuring that project implementation is in line with donor requirements and Christian Aid’s strategy. The FSCN Project manager will also be responsible for networking with external stakeholders and building the capacity of the implementing partner in nutrition and food security. The post will be based in Bandiagara town in Mali in the Region of Mopti, with frequent travel to Bamako or across the Sahel region.

The person we are looking for is someone with experience of working overseas in a project management capacity. You will have a solid understanding of food security, nutrition and the role of humanitarian action and institutional donors and will be able to build the capacity of the implementing partner in these areas. You will also need to understand the bigger picture and be able to build networks with the donor, other stakeholders and CA staff across the sub region with your excellent interpersonal and representational skills, acting as the main point of contact for the project. Mature judgement will be vital, along with the ability to communicate excellently in French and English.
