| Description: | ActionAid Afghanistan seeks applications from qualified candidates for the post of Manager – Policy Advocacy and Research.
The Manager – Policy Advocacy and Research is a senior management position reporting to the Country Director with the following core responsibilities:
- Establish a functional system to enable policies for poor and excluded people at the country level
- Link with ActionAid's wider work and learning to influence the national government and international agencies at various levels. - Provide advisory support to the Country Director on policy advocacy. We seek a person with a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in the social sciences, with 3-5 years of relevant experience in policy advocacy and research work in the development sector along with a sound understanding of Afghanistan's policy issues. The person should be knowledgeable on rights based approach and participatory methodologies (like Participatory Community Based Changed Plan, REFLECT, Social Audit, ELBAG, PPA, PVA, Community Reviews etc) and posses strong analytical ability, effective interpersonal and communication skill for advocacy and media work. Whilst knowledge of local languages like Dari and /or Pashtu would be advantageous ability to communicate well in spoken and written English is a requirement. The candidate should be able to work in a complex work environment like Afghanistan by respecting its cultural and religious norms, demonstrating sensitivity towards women and by upholding the safety and security protocols of the organisation. The position is based in Kabul, Afghanistan with travel nationally and internationally and offered under AAI’s international terms and conditions with initial one year contract with possible extension for another one year.
