Congo Starting Date: November 2009 Contract Details: 1 year, preferably 2 Project Overview There are currently 2 main sectors of intervention that are being run in DR Congo from three bases Bunia, Isiro and Dungu: Projects in the medical sector – involve limited provision of drugs and medical supplies, training and supervision of around 400 health structures in 27 health zones; also working with HIV awareness and treatment, malaria prevention and treatment, and various specialised groups for example the displaced and dependants of the military; also involved in epidemic response. Projects in reconstruction and rehabilitation of healthcare facilities and roads. Responsibilities To provide leadership, strategic direction, management and evaluation of all aspects of Medair’s projects in DR Congo. To manage the project managers in ensuring the correct implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Medair’s projects in Ituri and Haut-Uele with specific focus on: Medical projects; Reconstruction projects; Coaching and training national staff in project management. Qualifications •University degree and or relevant professional experience Experience •1 year of experience in a leadership position •At least 1 year of overseas experience •Working knowledge (oral and written) in French Medair standard working requirements for the field •Minimum 12 months professional experience in a relevant field •Committed Christians and strong adherence to Medair values •Strong English communication skills (oral and written) •Familiar with Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook •Able to live and work with a multicultural team under difficult conditions •Strong character traits, including emotional stability, adaptability, ability to handle stress, cultural and gender sensitivity, honesty •Single or married - without children, no dependent children •Successful completion of Medair’s Relief & Rehabilitation Orientation Course (ROC) To apply for this position For full information on this and other Medair work opportunities, please click on the link below and follow the Experienced Relief Worker path: http://www.medair.org/en/work-with-us/opportunities/ We request that all applications be completed on line at www.medair.org.
