Médecins du Monde UK is looking for a Finance Officer to support the operations of our London office.
Médecins du Monde is an international, medical humanitarian organisation providing healthcare to vulnerable populations in both developing and developed countries. Our aim is to provide healthcare for the most vulnerable people faced with crisis or exclusion. These emergency and long-term projects take place in 60 countries involving our pool of medical and non-medical volunteers.
Médecins du Monde UK was established in 1998 to contribute to the worldwide work of Médecins du Monde and is registered as a charity in England and Wales. In January 2006, we launched Project: London, our first healthcare programme here in the UK. We have a vacancy (part-time) for a Finance Officer to join our small London-based team.
You will support the activities of the Médecins du Monde UK team in a financial and business development role.
Your areas of responsibility will include, but not be limited to:
• Assisting the Director in yearly budget forecasting and follow up
• Processing income and paying invoices;
• Developing management accounting and reporting systems
• Producing regular budget reports and cash flow analyses for the Board;
• Reconciling accounts, preparing draft year end financial statements, and working with auditors to prepare the annual audited accounts;
• Assisting the fundraising team in reporting back to donors and establishing new project budgets;

You will report to the Director and work closely with the rest of the team as well as with MdM France financial Dpt. The core office team is comprised of six employees and between six office volunteers. In addition, we have a large team of volunteers who staff our UK clinic or work overseas, in any of the 60 countries where we run medical projects.
We are looking for an experienced accountant to join the team. You will:
• Be a qualified accountant or bookkeeper;
• Have at least2 years experience in a financial role, preferably in the NGO sector;
• Be experienced in a business development role, including the development and implementation of systems;
• Have excellent organisational skills with keen attention to detail;
• Be competent in Word, Excel, Sage, or Quickbooks;
• Be able to work in a small team and collaborate within an international network
This position is UK based, non-EC nationals will require current and valid permission to work in the UK.
French would be an asset
