Description:Vacancy: Consultant(s) to lead and coordinate the translation of up to 20 published outputs and to design a translation policy

The Geneva-based Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC) is looking for either one consultant or two consultants to, lead and coordinate the translation of up to 20 published outputs and design and propose a translation policy for the Internal Displacement Monitoring Center’s publications.

IDMC of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is the leading global monitor and an important advocate for the rights of internally displaced people (IDPs). For more information, visit IDMC’s website at www.internal-displacement.org

IDMC’s online database provides comprehensive information and analysis on the situation of IDPs displaced by armed conflicts and violence in some 50 countries, with regard to their rights under international law, as restated in the Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement. The database was set up in 1998, following a request of the UN Inter-Agency Standing Committee.

Based on its monitoring and data collection activities, IDMC advocates for durable solutions to the plight of IDPs in line with international standards, and for an improved protection of IDPs’ rights among national authorities, donor states, international organizations and other stakeholders.

IDMC produces regular overview updates on country situations, and special reports on countries and themes related to internal displacement. It aims to increase the number of reports and other outputs translated into languages other than English, so as to reach a wider audience especially in countries affected by internal displacement.
