| Description: | The mission of the International HIV/AIDS Alliance is to support communities to play a full and effective role in the AIDS response. Our vision is a world in which people do not die of AIDS. Since 1994, the Alliance and its partners have supported over 3,000 projects, in over 40 countries, reaching millions of people.
The International HIV/AIDS Alliance is seeking a highly-qualified, dynamic and experienced person to fulfill the role of Senior Advisor: HIV prevention. This post is a senior position within the Alliance secretariat which will guide good practice in HIV programming and raise the importance of the role of communities in preventing HIV with global policy makers and donors. The successful post-holder will join a team of Senior Advisors in the HIV Best Practice Unit based at the Alliance’s secretariat in Brighton, UK.
The position has four major components: helping to define and establish good practice standards in HIV prevention for community organisations; guiding and framing technical support provided to programmes by the Alliance’s regional technical support hubs; participating in and influencing global policy fora and donor practice on HIV prevention programming; and conceptualising and writing applications for funding. To do this, the post-holder must have the experience and technical capacity to provide leadership across the Alliance on HIV prevention practice in both concentrated and generalised epidemics, in developing countries.
