CAFOD is the official relief and development agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales providing humanitarian assistance in many countries worldwide. CAFOD aims to strengthen communities and partners’ response to disasters and link its relief and development work. In the Western Equatoria State of Sudan, CAFOD works in partnership with the Diocese of Tombura-Yambio supporting emergency, livelihood and HIV & AIDS programmes. CAFOD supported the diocese to develop a 9 month Emergency Appeal to provide food assistance, non-food items and strengthen access to water and sanitation.
The Humanitarian Project Manager will be based with the Diocese of Tombura-Yambio. They will be responsible for all aspects of programme management, co-ordination and representation and security management. The post holder will manage and develop humanitarian programme staff to deliver the emergency programme and strengthen the long-term capacity of the partner.
CAFOD is looking for a skilled project manager with significant experience of implementing emergency programmes, with the ability to work in difficult environments and under pressure. The successful candidate would need to demonstrate skills in capacity development and relationship building and be a good communicator; confident in dealing with local organisations in an empowering way, including Church and NGO partners. This is an unaccompanied post.
